Three Poems: Liberty, Death, and a Frog [with Commentary on Liberty]
Frog Summer Summer grows hot, for the Night fritters-away in sleep. Rain drops for the frog. The #765 7/21/05 A Death Overnight Overnight she died As she lived, so she died. The air is not the same, Nobody stops by to see Earless and eyeless My love for her has turned Discreetly, quietly. 7/12/05 #766 They Hear America No More! It once had seemed a little thing, Of liberty! But now I'm old-, no cares have I #767 7/24/05 Note [by the author]: "Our Constitution, perhaps, the most valuable document we have in America, or that the world has ever seen-which is the law of the land, seems to be diminishing in value; it was made for the people, not for the government, like most constitutions are. It doesn't matter who says this, or that. Be it the Supreme Court Judges that seem to have ongoing issues; and presidents that come and go. It is although the Constitution that remains, and when judges implant their personal will into it, it no longer holds the value it should. It is like giving a piece peace to -to someone who starts wars, it diminishes the price value, which I've seen too often. It seems I witness so much of this nowadays; it's quite disturbing; and thus, our liberties fad with it. And so I have written the poem, 'They Hear America No More,' I suppose in protest." Now, I like flash fiction very much, but I like the more fabulistic kind. Banana Republic Like a cat I slumber, blissfully unencumbered, Through eighty per cent of my allotted span, Occasionally awoken, when dissent is spoken, And I invent another cunning five year plan, Lately it was pensions, that were being mentioned, So I borrowed from the French and Robespierre, Scrap all that went before, saved by tooth and claw, And let my all equal Citizens appear, Currently it is time, for me to be in my prime, For there is another election looming, I have to appear sincere, for part of this coming year, And assure everyone that everything is booming, Never mind strict quotas, Ive imported multitudes of voters, And told them which party let them stay, Though Ive rigged the postal vote, and defamed everyone of note, You never know what might happen on the day.So to be on the safe side, I swallow all my pride, And allow my people to hear my hallowed voice, And roll out the charade, put on the facade, And even make believe they have a choice, Next time around the crown, will be trampled underground, House of Lords and Lord Chancellor history, With the other Chancellor gone, I alone will soldier on, Yes, then there will only ever be me, Ill hold elections for you, as all dictators do, And fill positions with those that grease my palm, As for civil unrest, there is always house arrest, Or secret imprisonment for those that mean me harm.
